Libraries score over football in Liverpool!

Managing Information News: "Whisper it quietly on the Kop – libraries are twice as popular as football [that's soccer to us Americans] in Liverpool! The number of visits to libraries has rocketed by more than 25% over the last year.

During the 12 months up to March 2004, a record breaking 3.3 million visits were made – up from 2.6 million the previous year. That’s more than double the combined number if both Anfield and Goodison Park sell out for every home game during the Premiership season (1.6 million).

Libraries in Liverpool also draw more visitors than all of the museums and galleries on Merseyside added together. The Central Library on William Brown Street is the most popular and attracted more than 600,000 visitors. It is predicted that figure will grow to over one million when it is transformed into a World Discovery Centre in time for European Capital of Culture 2008, allowing people to trace their family history."

Maybe if Oklahoma Libraries put our figures up against OU & OSU Football it might help with funding? Just an idea for Legislative Day next year....
