Okiedoke - How good are libraries?

Okiedoke had this to say about the state library system: "In a comment regarding what's good about Oklahoma, Adri reminds me of the State library system and the folks that run it. Like many things I regularly use, I take libraries for granted. I'm spoiled because of additional access to OU's libraries. I've used libraries all my life and am currently third in line reserving 'Breach of Trust' by Senate hopeful Tom Coburn. I'm ashamed to say, library science to me is the Dewey decimal system."
With this in mind what can we do to let people know about the work we do? We have GOLD now and the OLA Centennial coming up and also the Endowment... but what else can we do? Maybe some of our patrons can clue us in? Any ideas?
