I have vivid memories of Bill Katz teaching the "Reference Course" [I got my MLS in 1982, so these memories go back a ways!]. That first class there had been lots of talk amongst the students about the famous Professor William Katz. There were quite a few shocked faces when he walked in wearing a faded flannel shirt and well-worn blue jeans. More shock came later to those students who chose to come to class not prepared.
