Director shares memories, faith in what libraries contribute 11/21/04: "Ardmore Public Library Director Carolyn Franks is retiring. She began working at the library in 1972. A celebration in her honor is planned from 6 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 30 in the library, 320 E St. NW.
Born and raised around Lake Texoma at Lebanon and Madill, she says some of her fondest memories revolve around the people she has met in the years she has worked at the library.
'I always remember, when I first started I was going to do Story Hour one day,' Franks said. 'The library director came through and the children's librarian had gotten sick and went home. I didn't even work out in the public area at that time. The library director came back to my desk and she said do you think you could do Story Hour this afternoon?'"
