Invasion of the Podcasters

So here's a low cost out reach tool libraries can do to reach their patrons. It's called podcasting. I'm not sure if any Oklahoma libraries are doing it already--but if you are give a shout!

Ok, so you've read the wikipedia info on it but what can a library do with it? Well, how about story time broadcasted to your patrons who want to hear a tale by a professional (pssst, that would be you) around the campfire? Or better yet, how about your book club's discussion of Walking the Choctaw Road? Or what about broadcasting a library instruction session as a way to tempt faculty into bringing their classes over?

Several people, with a lot more podcasting experience, have written about libraries utilizing this technology....

But just to add to all the mass confusion here are a few more sites that might set your library up and running with podcasting.

Lockergname has a nice Podcasting starter kit.
Engadget has a nice list of places to start.
And of course if you would like to read a book about it there may be one or two available. ;-)

So let me know when your library gets up and podcasting!
