ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, ASSESSMENT LIBRARIAN. TENURE TRACK. Oklahoma State University is a comprehensive research and land grant university offering more than 200 academic programs with state, national, and international impact. The Stillwater campus enrolls 22,000 students. The Library, with holdings of more than 2.6 million volumes and documents, is a member of the Association of Research Libraries and the Greater Western Library Alliance, and participates in the OCLC system as a member of AMIGOS. It uses the Voyager library management system and administers systems for a consortium of eleven other Oklahoma libraries. The Library is a regional depository for the Federal Depository Library program as well as a Patent and Trademark Library. Library faculty hold academic rank.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The person in this position is responsible for the ongoing assessment of all library services. Working under the direction of the Associate Dean for Planning and Assessment and collaboratively with library department heads, he/she will develop processes, tools, techniques and resources that will provide comprehensive and sound analysis of library operations. He/she will have direct responsibility for conducting assessment activities and will compile statistical reports for accrediting agencies and for the Association of Research Libraries. The Assessment Librarian will assist with writing grant proposals.
Qualifications. Required qualifications include a Master’s degree from an ALA accredited program; a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in a large research, university or public library; effective written and oral communication skills; excellent analytical skills; creative and innovative problem-solving skills; and the ability to work successfully within a team environment. Candidates should show evidence of successful management experience and leadership ability; demonstrate a strong commitment to service excellence; possess the knowledge and understanding of key issues and trends in public and information services, information technology, academic libraries, and public higher education; a commitment to the professional development and training of staff at all levels; and a record of research, publications, presentations, or service to the profession. Desired qualifications include a second advanced degree, experience in a land-grant institution, and experience in an ARL Library.
SALARY: $40,000/Assistant Professor or $50,000/Associate Professor 12 month appointment. Academic rank and salary dependent upon qualifications and prior experience.
