LISWiki:About - LISWiki

Found this via LISnews. I've made reference to wiki's in the past. And would encourage everyone to check out the technology. In my non-librarian life I participate in a wiki project and it is so simple we have 12 years olds contributing to the project. Check out this particular LISwiki and see if your library could utilize the technology. Also, as an aside--I'm still convinced we could use a wiki to create an easily accessible union list for all libraries in Oklahoma.

LISWiki:About - LISWiki: "LISWiki was established to give the library community a chance to explore the usefulness of Wikis. It is not intended to replace or detract from the Wikipedia Library and information science (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Library_science) articles (or those in the printed LIS encyclopedias for that matter), but exist as a niche encyclopedia covering library-related issues. (Just as Memory Alpha (http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Main_Page), for example, exists as an independent Wiki for a specialized audience.)

The field of librarianship has already benefited from adopting innovative publishing and communication models, such as weblogs and open access archives. Wikis are quickly becoming the next big thing in the field of information. So please, have fun exploring the site. And consider contributing to the new project.

Anything library-related is welcome here. This Wiki is designed to be built, edited, organized, and maintained by anyone and everyone interested -- although contributions of inaccurate, off-topic, or opinionated content, spam, and vandalism are not welcome."
