McAlester News Capital & Democrat | Library offers variety of programs for children: "Lots of giggles and laughter filled the Whiteacre Room at the McAlester Public Library recently.
The children in the crowded room were laughing because of the antics of Stephen Smith as he portrayed Professor B. Looney. The ventriloquist and balloon artist talked about 'Dragons, Dreams and Daring Deeds,' this year's theme for the library's summer programming.
Smith kept up a steady pace of jokes as he blew up long, thin balloons to create his masterpieces. He made a poodle, a dragon fly and even created a Crusader shield, sword and helmet for one of the youngsters to wear during the program. His final creation was a large dragon head complete with teeth and a tongue.
All these creations were presented to Anita Ross, the children's librarian, for display at the library."
