NewsOK.com | Library circulation hits 6 million items: "The Metropolitan Library System's circulation reached the 6 million mark during the latest fiscal year, up from 5.6 million last year.
Circulating items include books, video cassettes, compact discs, books on tape, magazines and other materials.
'In FY 2003, we saw an increase of more than a million items checked out over what we circulated just three years before,' said Executive Director Donna Morris. 'That was a jump of 20 percent, and we were excited by that. Now, just a year later, we broke that record.'
Library officials attribute the circulation increase to the construction of new library facilities and renovation of existing buildings. Morris said another reason could be that more people are attending library events."
