KOTV - The News on 6 - Oklahoma City Library Committee To Set Policies About New Collection: "Five members of the Metropolitan Library Commission board will make up a special committee that will set policies and guidelines for a so-called parenting collection.
The parenting collection will consist of children's books classified as easy, easy-reader and 'tweens that deal with controversial topics. Those terms describe books geared to children's reading levels from just learning to read to age 12.
The library system's administration and staff will provide input into writing and enacting the guidelines. Only adults will be able to check out books in the parenting collection.
Formation of the special five-member committee is the commission's response to a complaint, which a patron lodged in April, about young children having free access to library books with homosexual themes."
