McAlester News Capital & Democrat | Tim Tingle day proclaimed in Eufaula: "Wednesday will be Tim Tingle day in Eufaula. A free Indian taco lunch will be served at the library, beginning at 11 a.m. At noon, Eufaula Mayor Dean Smith will present the Tim Tingle Day proclamation to the author. Tingle will tell stories, talk about his book and answer questions. No charge will be made for lunch or for attending the program, but donations will be accepted. In addition, Tingle's books will be available for sale and autographing.
It is a real privilege to have the award-winning storyteller bring his record-setting author tour to Eufaula Memorial Library. Tingle, author of 'Walking the Choctaw Road: Stories from Red People Memory,' is making more than 80 presentations at Oklahoma public libraries and schools through Nov. 30. No other author has made so many appearances during a single tour in Oklahoma.
The unprecedented tour is part of Oklahoma Reads Oklahoma, the statewide centennial reading and discussion program sponsored by the Oklahoma Humanities Council and the Oklahoma Department of Libraries. The project was conceived to give literature an important role in the state's centennial celebration and is patterned after the One Book projects that have become popular around the country."
