POSITION: DIRECTOR OF TECHNICAL SERVICES
DUTIES: Under the direction of the Dean of University Libraries, the Director of Technical Services has administrative responsibility for Access Services, Acquisitions, Building Security, Cataloging, Collection Development, the Digitization and Copy Center, Disaster and Emergency Planning, Interlibrary Loan, and Remote Storage. Responsibilities include planning, development, implementation and assessment for technical services. Additional responsibilities are personnel evaluation, statistical reporting, analysis of costs and efficiency of service operations, maintaining an awareness of trends and technologies in the field and their impact, and representing the Libraries in university, state, regional and national forums. The Director of Technical Services works effectively and collaboratively with the library administration, faculty and staff in setting and meeting library goals and objectives and managing change.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: MLS from an ALA-accredited library school; six years professional experience with at least three years in library technical services administration and staff supervision; effective communication, planning, organizational and supervisory skills; practical experience with current trends and technologies in technical services; experience in working with multiple constituencies; knowledge of OCLC.
Desirable: Professional academic library experience; evidence of research and publication; experience with SIRSI and RLIN; understanding of metadata; record of active involvement in the library profession; second masters or other advanced degree.

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications.
