Head of Reference and Outreach Services, University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK
Duties: The Head of Reference and Outreach Services for University Libraries is responsible for planning, implementing and assessing high-quality, innovative and user-oriented reference and outreach services. This position manages Reference Department operations for Bizzell Memorial Library. Outreach responsibilities include identifying opportunities to develop working relationships within the university community in order to provide information services. Extensive liaison activity with students, faculty, and administrative units of the university is expected. This position includes some night and weekend duty.
Qualifications: Required: MLS from ALA accredited library school; four or more years of public service experience in libraries; management and supervisory experience; experience in reference and library instruction; knowledge of current trends in technologies in public services; knowledge of collection development practices and procedures; excellent communication, planning and organizational skills.
Desireable: Experience in an academic or research library; advanced degree in a subject discipline; experience with promoting reference or outreach services; evidence of research or creative achievement.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications.
Employment: Librarians have faculty status, privileges, responsibilities, the rank of assistant professor or above, and are eligible for tenure.
