NewsOK.com | Library forms group for male readers

NewsOK.com | Library forms group for male readers: "With a disregard for political correctness, Nelson Dent, information services librarian at the Norman Public Library, is forming a book discussion group for men only.

The men of the TestosteReads Book Club will meet monthly at the library, 225 N Webster, to discuss books that are heavy on action and light on relationships.

Dent said the library's existing book clubs have mostly female members who like to discuss books recommended by Oprah Winfrey.

'There will be none of that with TestosteReads,' Dent said. 'We will be reading books more in the pulp fiction genre.'

Dent said the idea for the book club came from customers who felt uncomfortable, or uninterested, with the library's genteel discussion topics.

In the TestosteReads Book Club, titles will be recommended by the readers themselves, Dent said.

'I predict that every book we discuss will have some guns and girls, mayhem and mischief involved somewhere in the story. That's why I'm limiting membership to men age 18 or older,' he added.

For more information or to sign up, call Dent at 701-2679."
