SALARY RANGE:



Grade 16 $3707/month


STATUS:



40 hours per week.

May include evenings & weekends



JOB DESCRIPTION:




  • Provides quality service to customers through own efforts
    and through the team leaders who directly supervise staff of
    the library, including defining individual responsibilities,
    determining priorities and deadlines, training staff, and evaluating
    the quality and effectiveness of their work;

  • Builds and maintains a high performance work team that is
    organized to meet the goals and objectives of the library;

  • Joins and actively participates in south Tulsa community groups,
    seeking events and activities in the area to promote HRL and
    the southern Tulsa County branch libraries;

  • Key liaison to the HRL Friends of the Library;

  • Works with team leaders in interviewing, selecting, training,
    supervising, and evaluating staff;

  • Interprets library system goals and procedures for the individual
    library;

  • Conducts staff meetings, communicating management decisions,
    policies, and changes/corrections to programs or processes;

  • Establishes individual performance goals of team leaders and
    through them counsels employees to improve performance, and recommends
    appropriate personnel actions;

  • Prepares, recommends, and administers annual budget for the
    library;

  • Oversees staff in the evaluation, selection, and removal of
    materials in an effort to develop a collection reflecting the
    needs of the diverse demographics of south Tulsa County library
    customers;

  • Supervises the condition and security of the physical building
    and advises appropriate personnel when corrective action is necessary;

  • Compiles and oversees the compilation of information and provides
    reports regarding individual and library performance;

  • Participates in system-wide committees and task forces to
    analyze and make recommendations for changes in policies and
    procedures;

  • Team player who cooperates with other departments and agencies
    in the library system in delivering service and in merchandising.



QUALIFICATIONS:


 



  • Master of Library and Information Studies Degree;

  • Five to seven years of library experience, including three
    years of managerial experience.

  • Demonstrated excellent managerial, supervisory and team-building
    skills;

  • Demonstrated quality customer service skills;

  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills;

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills;

  • Thorough knowledge of library systems, procedures, policies,
    and functions;

  • Ability to work independently and make decisions;

  • Confident and skilled change-agent;

  • Knowledge of collection development and evaluation techniques;

  • Proficiency in using MS Office software, Windows, and the
    Internet.
