The Norman Transcript - Butler bids for third council term

The Norman Transcript - Butler bids for third council term: "Rachel Butler, incumbent representing Norman City Council Ward 5, announced her candidacy for a third term Thursday.

Butler is a librarian at Oklahoma City Community College and has lived in east Norman for more than 20 years.

She cited her efforts to protect east Norman's rural character, to protect Lake Thunderbird and the city's stream water quality, and to continue efforts to improve roads and city services in east Norman.

'Issues related to growth are very much on the minds of east siders,' Butler said. 'Norman's 2025 long-range land use plan with its protections for the Little River and Lake Thunderbird is a great framework for decision making. Now we're facing new federal mandates, the possibility of an extended drought and a concentration of future building on the north and east sides of Norman. I am eager to use our knowledge, plus experience taken from cities around the country, to build on the 2025 framework in ways that will benefit our children.'"
