Librarian or Associate Librarian
@ Downtown Library

Job Summary: Under general supervision, you will perform a variety of technical and professional librarian activities of moderate to complex difficulty including providing information and assistance to customers of all ages; providing information concerning content and location of collection; performing reference and reader advisory services. This position requires exceptional customer service skills.

Salary & Hours: Librarian - $16.55 per hour / Associate Librarian - $15.02 per hour. Normal working schedule will be 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm. Variations include frequent evening shifts, some Fridays till 6:00pm

Location: The Metropolitan Library System serves all of OklahomaCounty through numerous community libraries and outreach sites. This opening is located at the Downtown Library, 300 Park Avenue, OKC.

Qualifications: Librarian – a Master of Library Science or Master of Library and Information Science (MLS/MLIS) degree from an ALA accredited program is required for all Librarian positions.

Associate Librarian – Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university supplemented preferably by additional professional training through attendance at workshops, seminars, conferences, etc. Six months of experience in public service work, preferably as a public librarian.

Skills and Abilities: Understands principles, practices, and applications of library science and technology. While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently required to sit or stand for extended periods of time, squat, use hands and arms, speak and hear, and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
