POSITION: Children’s Services Manager

BEGINNING SALARY: Grade 12, Base $3261.00/mo

WORKING CONDITIONS: Full Time position. Must be able to work a flexible
schedule which may include evenings and weekends.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs organizational, managerial, public service and community work involved in the administration and operation of the Children’s Services Department of the Moore Public Library. Works under the direction of the Moore Branch Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education and/or experience:
a. A MLIS degree from a graduate school accredited by the American Library Association.
b. Three years professional experience in public library work.
c. Experience with children preferred.

2. Knowledge, skills and abilities:
a. Ability to work closely with the Branch Manager and staff to maintain a supportive relationship.
b. Ability to make decision of a professional nature, to gain the respect and cooperation of others and to work pleasantly with branch staff and library customers.
c. Working knowledge in the operation of computers and office machines, and standard office software products.
d. Skill in supervising activities of a small group, speaking before groups and presenting facts or opinions in a concise manner both in written and spoken communication.
e. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with children.
f. Lift up to 20 lbs.
g. Retrieve and replace items from floor level to at least 5 ½ feet in height.
h. Work a flexible schedule which may include evenings and weekends.
