The Balancing Act: Security & Liberty

Welcome to OETA!
MIPT produced a show on the PATRIOT ACT, data-mining, civil liberties, detentions, protection of sensitive information, and other issues called "The Balancing Act: Security and Liberty" that will air on OETA at 10PM on Monday April 19, 2004. Hosted by Frank Sesno, the show offers an examination of the post 9/11 relationship between safety and freedom in which a seven member expert panel looks at four fictitious, but highly plausible, video scenarios that cause the panel and the audience to examine the critical issues that face our nation now and in the future.
The panelists are: Viet Dinh, principal author of The Patriot Act; Juliette Kayyem, Kennedy School of Government; General Bob Barnes, former Armed Forces JAG lawyer; Derek Smith, CEO Choicepoint Corporation; Peggy Hamburg, Nuclear Threat Initiative; Eric Holder, Former Deputy Attorney General; and Andy Kohut, Pew Center for People and Politics.
