McAlester News Capital & Democrat: "He's a poet, a picker and his life's a contradiction, and the award-winning singer-songwriter will be putting on two shows at the McAlester Public Library Wednesday.
But it won't be Monty Harper's first trip to the library. In fact, he's appeared several times in recent years, usually to a packed room of enthusiastic children and equally enthusiastic parents.
Harper will be performing in the library's Whiteacre Room at 10 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. as part of the library's summer reading program. Harper's appearance is funded in part by the Oklahoma Arts Council.
'He's always a lot of fun and the children love him,' said Anita Ross, children's librarian."
