Sidebar: Web harvesting and libraries - Computerworld: "The U.S. Library of Congress has a program called Minerva (Mapping the Internet Electronic Resources Virtual Archive) aimed at collecting and preserving primary source materials created in digital formats (a.k.a. 'born digital') that don't exist in any physical form. In the pilot program's first two years, the library has sponsored five event-based harvests of Web sites: Election 2000, Election 2002, Sept. 11, Sept. 11 Remembrance and Olympics 2002. The Minerva collection (www.loc.gov/minerva/) currently includes more than 35,000 Web sites consisting of more than 500 million Web pages. "
