Norman Friends of Library seek items for sale

Friends of Library seek items for sale: "Donations of good quality used books, audio and video tapes, CDs, DVDs, records, computer programs and prints are being sought by the Friends of the Norman Library for the annual book sale scheduled for Oct. 28-31.

Donations should be taken to the library. Pick-up of large donations is available by calling 360-4346. A preview for members of the organization will be Friday evening, Oct. 28. The sale is open to the public without charge Oct. 29-30, with a special time set aside Oct. 30 for mobility impaired shoppers. The sale will close on Monday with a five-hour $3 per bag sale.

Simm and Lori Rudnick are chairing the 2005 Book Sale and are supervising the collection and sorting of the projected 50,000 items to be available.

'We need all types of materials, but of special need are books of special interest, such as Oklahoma and Southwest topics, first editions, coffee table books, prints and other literary items.'

These items will be set aside in a 'Collectibles Room' and will be priced higher than the 50-cents or dollar for paperbacks, and $1 hardbacks.

Volunteers are needed during the two weeks prior to the sale for sorting and displaying the items, and after the sale for the clean-up. For further information or to schedule, call the volunteer coordinator at 410-1721.

After the public sale, the Friends of the Norman Library will donate the remaining books (excluding collectibles) to qualified non-profit organizations, libraries and educational institutions. Interested organizations must contact the Friends of the Library at 360-4346"
