Traditions dot area football landscape

I'm glad to see that librarians' research is well appreciated by football historians and fans!

Traditions dot area football landscape:
After a homecoming rally, each Hennessey senior gets to ring the bell and address a gathering of students near the east end zone.

"That is the only time I know that bell has been rung (since it was moved)," Barnes said.

The bell lost its wheels Oct. 19, 1981, when it was moved to its current location -- a tall, permanent tower in the east end zone, according to research by Hennessey librarian Mary Haney and assistant librarian Karen Vogt.
