OU Alumni Association: "University of Oklahoma alum and best-selling mystery writer Tony Hillerman is returning to his roots in December to accept the Tulsa Library Trust’s 2005 Peggy V. Helmerich Distinguished Author Award.
Best known for his Joe Leaphorn-Jim Chee mysteries, Hillerman is the author of 19 novels, several nonfiction works and essays, plus an autobiography, Seldom Disappointed. Hillerman will receive the Helmerich award at a black-tie dinner on Dec. 2 at Central Library, Fourth Street and Denver Avenue in Tulsa.
Given annually by the Tulsa Library Trust, the Helmerich award gives formal recognition to internationally acclaimed authors who have written a distinguished body of work and made a major contribution to the field of literature and letters."
