What is Knowledge Management?
How do I use it in my library?
Sponsored by UCD and LED
Knowledge Management (KM) can be simply defined as knowing who knows what information and where the information resides in the information structure. The business community has taken techniques developed in the library world and used them to keep track of where knowledge – as opposed to information – resides in their organization. It’s time to apply these methods in the libraries where they originated.
What are the implications of Knowledge Management for everyday librarians? This workshop will introduce the basics of Knowledge Management and show how KM can easily be incorporated into library practice. By examining how other professions approach KM, we will explore how we can apply those practices into library functions.
