Creek County Literacy to open its doors this weekend

Sapulpa Daily Herald | Creek County Literacy to open its doors this weekend:

Creek County Literacy is inviting the public to an Open House this Sunday to showcase its new home.

The Open House is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the library annex on Poplar Street.

Funded by the Bartlett Foundation, the library annex houses the Creek County Literacy Program and is allowing for expanded services.

The non-profit organization –– funded in part by the Tulsa Area United Way –– offers a variety of literacy services to Creek County residents of all ages, from after-school programs to GED training.

Diana Plummer, a CCLP board member and chairwoman of the Open House committee, said visitors to the Open House can expect to see how CCLP impacts the local community.

Guests will have the opportunity to review literacy materials and resources and learn how volunteers work to tutor those who need services.

Staff members and board members will be on hand to answer questions, and membership information will also be available.

Door prizes also will be given throughout the afternoon, Plummer said.

For more information, call CCLP Executive Director Barbara Belk at 224-9647.
