Cataloging/Database Maintenance Librarian, McFarlin Library, The University of Tulsa, Tulsa, OK
The Cataloging/Database Maintenance Librarian reports to the Head of Bibliographic Services and is responsible for cataloging monographs, serials and media materials for reference and circulating collections in McFarlin Library and may assist with cataloging materials in other departments. Specific responsibilities include maintaining the Authority File for the library’s on-line catalog (Millennium); maintaining hyperlinks associated with circulating and reference collections; assisting in formulating and implementing local cataloging policies and procedures; serving at the Reference Desk on a regular schedule, including evenings and weekends; serving on Library committees; participating in library instruction classes, professional organizations and workshops and aiding in collection development.
Minimum Qualifications: MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited graduate program; demonstrated skills in cataloging, database maintenance and public service; a working knowledge of current library technology and the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications: Professional experience in cataloging and database maintenance in an academic library setting; experience with the Innovative Interfaces Incorporated integrated on-line library information system (Millennium) and experience with OCLC cataloging utilities and tools.
