Hey Adri,

My alma mater, Oklahoma City University, still calls itself OCU, not OKCU. Oklahoma Christian University ("OC"), formerly Oklahoma Christian College and Oklahoma Christian University of Science and Arts, has been trying to grab the abbreviation "OCU" for a couple of decades, dating from about the time that the Gaylord family pulled its money out of OCU and put it in OCC (which promptly renamed itself).

I know this is all sort of like Ohio State insisting on being called THE Ohio State University, and it doesn't really matter much to anyone who didn't go there, but people who apply for this job would probably be wise to call the school OCU during the interview. :-)

Thanks Molly! Not being a native Okie I'm not familiar with all the college politics. So when I doubt I normally just grab the abbreviation off the site's URL.

Good tip though for interviewers -- in fact I suggest when you interview to make sure you use the correct name and if in doubt either use the full name of the institution or say the library's community. ;-)
