INSTRUCTION/REFERENCE LIBRARIAN

SALARY: $33,000 with 12-month appointment

STARTING DATE: July 1, 2007

Position Description: The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma Nash Library seeks an Instruction/Reference Librarian committed to undergraduate liberal arts education and the active support of faculty and student research. This position will offer individual reference consultations as well as group instruction in the identification of information needs and the retrieval and evaluation of information in all formats. The successful candidate will develop teaching materials and research guides and will create and maintain Web site content. The position also supervises approximately twelve student workers who are responsible for circulation and stacks maintenance. Other responsibilities include participation on university committees. The position may include rotating evening and weekend reference duties. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: ALA accredited MLS/MLIS. Knowledge of library computer applications, the Internet, web authoring skills, and emerging information technology trends. Knowledge of reference sources supporting liberal arts education, effective verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team. Successful candidate must demonstrate a high degree of individual initiative and observe high standards of personal and professional integrity.
