Proper channels in Enid

Some Public Library of Enid and Garfield County employees are apparently upset with changes being made at the library by director Ab Kader, and Enid City Manager Eric Benson wants them to stop complaining to library advisory board members about their concerns.

Benson spoke to the library board members Thursday about the role they play in relations between library employees and the library director or managers of those employees.

Benson was first to speak at the advisory board, which also had in attendance a couple of library employees and a representative of Amer-ican Federation of State, County and Municipal Employ-ees (AFSCME) union.

“I suspect many of you have re-ceived calls from our library employees,” Benson said. The city manager explained there are proper channels for employees to go through in voicing concerns or complaints about supervisors, and, in the case of the library, the advisory board isn’t one of them.

“We will bring disciplinary measures (against em-ployees) if it continues,” Benson said....
