Position Description and Duties
The Information Literacy and Library Instruction Coordinator develops and leads the library’s information literacy and library instruction program through design and implementation of planning and assessment activities. The person who fills the position familiarizes himself or herself with new and innovative information literacy and library instruction concepts and practices and works with library and campus faculty to implement such practices as appropriate. He or she teaches information literacy and library instruction through reference desk, classroom, and online instruction. The person who fills the position publicizes and encourages campus-wide participation in the information literacy and library instruction program. This librarian achieves and maintains a record of excellence in librarianship, scholarly achievement and service for reappointment and/or tenure, and promotion.


Qualification Requirements
Applicants must hold an ALA-accredited MLS or MLIS and possess strong communication skills. He or she must have successful teaching and reference desk experience and show demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty and students. Applicants must have completed graduate level coursework focused on planning and assessment and/or possess planning and assessment work experience.


Qualification Preferences
Additional advanced degree. WebCT/Blackboard experience. Professional academic library experience providing reference and instruction and developing, coordinating, and assessing library instruction programs.


Salary and Rank
With additional advanced degree, Assistant Professor, faculty status, tenure track; $42,000
Without additional advanced degree, Instructor, faculty status, non tenure track, $40,000
